More weekend walks

Here is another Saturday excursion where we decided to walk to the Art Museum and see what was new there.

Preparing to take wedding pictures - out on the street
From Several weekend walks

This is a common thing in Taiwan with couples going to a wedding photo studio for a day long extravaganza at a time unrelated to their actual wedding. The studio provides costumes (the gown is likely not her real wedding dress) and settings both indoors and outdoors. The couple then gets a whole book of photos.

Digging work in the street - putting in some pipes
From Several weekend walks

What is wrong with this picture? First the digger decides to block the entire street without warning to cars coming in either direction, though it is not a major thoroughfare. Second, look closely at the treads (or lack thereof) on the digger. It ended up doing as much damage to the street as repair work.

A new coffee shop (O'Hana) that claims to be Hawaiian coffee - below one of our favorite Thai restaurants (Grandma's Thai) on the second floor

Another building wrapped for renovation - this one has a Benetton on the first floor

And one of my favorite facades - this one is on Taichung Gong Rd (main artery) and one I run past in the morning

Another interesting facade - Hotel National after its renovation and removal of shrouding

Hi Dan,
Are you still in Taichung? Love your pics and I also like some of the landmarks you note, including the French Neoclassical condo building near Canal Area. Would love to hear your thoughts on great restaurants. I just moved to Taichung a few months ago from the US!

They should take it out of the driver's salary.

BTW, we had a wedding photographer try to work my little daughter into some shots as we passed by. A couple was doing their wedding photos on the pedestrian skywalk / skybridge down in the Taipei 101 district.
